Our mission and vision
Why Shikshak Kalyaan exists and the work we have committed to.
Our mission
Our mission is to build harmony and a healthy work environment, not only for government teachers but also for teachers in private and non-government institutions. By reducing exploitation at different levels, we aim to protect the rights and interests of the whole teaching community. Through this work we are building a national platform where teachers can freely share their concerns and ideas, and contribute to the welfare of teachers and students alike.
Our first focus is quality education at all costs. We strongly believe that an empowered teacher creates an empowered generation.
Objectives and vision
A. Empowerment at economic, social and educational levels
Our main aim is to empower not only teachers but also women, children and all underprivileged communities by meeting their economic, social and educational needs. To do this, we will:
- Hold panel discussions, seminars and workshops on social issues linked to education.
- Spread awareness and understanding of reforms like the New Education Policy (NEP) among teachers, parents, students and administrators.
- Build platforms for dialogue, sharing of ideas and solving problems together, for a better and more inclusive education system.
B. Working together to implement policy
We want to support government initiatives and help with the effective implementation of education policies, especially the New Education Policy.
- Work with government bodies, schools and private institutions so that policies are carried out smoothly and practically.
- Bridge the gap between policy makers and the people who carry out policy, so that the benefits reach every classroom and every student.
- Promote transparency, accountability and inclusion in education reform.
C. Nurturing talent and self-reliance (Aatmanirbhar Bharat)
We believe in recognising and supporting outstanding talent in every field, especially among our teachers, who are the true nation builders. To make this real, we will:
- Run skill based and vocational training programmes that prepare students for the modern world.
- Encourage new teaching methods, entrepreneurship skills and career focused education in line with Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).
- Offer a forum where teachers, students and professionals can freely share ideas and experience, learn and innovate together.
- Recognise and reward outstanding teachers and learners who add real value to society.
Sub objectives
A. Housing and shelter security
In line with the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji of "Housing for All", our Samiti will work to make sure teachers also receive due care in housing schemes.
- Work closely with the Urban Development Ministries of the Central and State Governments to help teachers get affordable housing.
- Ask for special housing provisions for teachers, in recognition of their service to nation building.
- Explore public private partnerships to build housing colonies for teachers that are safe, affordable and dignified.
B. Full health care for teachers and their families
Health is central to the well-being of the teaching community. We are committed to affordable, lifelong health care for teachers and their families.
- Working with the government: approach the Ministry of Health to extend lifelong health care to teachers and their dependants at CGHS approved rates.
- Equal care for private and government teachers: work for complete health benefits for teachers in both sectors, on the lines of the ESI (Employees' State Insurance) scheme.
- Set up special health care tie ups with hospitals and clinics for teachers.
C. Financial well-being and fair salaries
Teachers, especially in private institutions, often face low pay and financial insecurity. Our Samiti will work on this by:
- Collecting and studying salary data of teachers in rural and urban private schools.
- Finding the gaps and causes of low wages, and preparing recommendations for policy makers.
- Asking for fair, transparent and dignified salary structures, so that teachers are paid in line with their qualifications, workload and contribution.
- Improving the financial condition of teachers through legal, administrative and policy action.
